SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Firefighters in Salt Lake City are trying to determine the cause of smoke that forced the evacuation of 20 children from a day care center.

The Salt Lake Tribune (https://bit.ly/MqEDVI ) reports the children, including five infants, were taken Monday afternoon from The Playhouse Day Care Center to a safe location across the street.

The building is home to Chabad Lubavitch of Utah Jewish Center. The report of smoke prompted Rabbi Benny Zippel and his daughter to remove two Torah scrolls for safekeeping.

Other businesses in the building include a health and wellness center and a cat health center.

Officials say the building has been renovated and the smoke dissipated when power was turned off.
