SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A magistrate judge has set bond at $500,000 for a Minnesota man accused of going on a rampage in Sioux Falls with a stolen car.

The public defender for 36-year-old Hills, Minn., resident Jeremy Albers did not contest the bond amount in a hearing Monday. Albers asked for a mental evaluation, saying he didn’t remember the Sunday night incident.

Police say Albers fled on foot from the scene of a vehicle crash, stole another vehicle and assaulted a woman who was still inside when he drove away. They say he swerved at officers before crashing the vehicle.

Albers faces numerous charges including aggravated assault, robbery and drunken driving. Police allege his blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit for driving, and that he was armed with knives.
