ATTICA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say an inmate at a medium-security prison has been charged with attacking three correctional officers, including a sergeant who suffered a serious head injury.

State police say 19-year-old Khamari Brown assaulted two guards late last month in a dorm area at the Wyoming Correctional Facility in Attica. Troopers say he later assaulted a sergeant outside the prison’s hospital.

Brown has been charged with three counts of assault. He’s serving a sentence for attempted burglary committed in the Syracuse area.

Police say he’s due back in Wyoming County Court at a later day to answer to the charges.

Information on the extent of the sergeant’s injuries wasn’t release.
