NEW YORK (AP) - Sharon Love says dating violence wasn’t on her radar before her 22-year-old daughter Yeardley Love was killed by her ex-boyfriend in Charlottesville, Va. in 2010.

Love said Tuesday in New York that the death of her daughter Yeardley Love still seems “unfathomable.”

She spoke at a panel that was part of a daylong push to raise awareness of dating violence.

The initiative is sponsored by Break the Cycle, an organization that aims to stop dating abuse.

Olympic gold medal gymnast Jordyn Wieber joined the panel. She said she has two sisters as well as teammates, friends and fans and she wants them to be safe.

George W. Huguely V is serving a 23-year prison term for Yeardley Love’s slaying. He and Love were lacrosse players at the University of Virginia.
