CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Two New Hampshire Senate committees have cancelled hearings due to the snowstorm, including a hearing on a proposed ban on the sale and possession of sky lanterns.

The thin paper lanterns lit from inside by candles float aloft and have been popular around the world for centuries, but fire officials consider them a fire hazard.

The Senate Executive Departments and Administration Committee cancelled a hearing on the bill Wednesday.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee also cancelled its meeting, but the Public and Municipal Affairs Committee kept to its schedule.
