President Obama announced his intent Wednesday to nominate Philadelphia attorney Cheryl Ann Krause, a former law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
“Cheryl Ann Krause has displayed exceptional dedication to the legal profession through her work and I am honored to nominate her to serve the American people as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals,” Mr. Obama said in a statement.
Ms. Krause is a partner at Dechert LLP, a prestigious Philadelphia firm that downsized significantly during the recession, where she specialized in white-collar criminal defense and government investigations. She earned her law degree at Stanford Law School in 1993.
She served as an assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1997 to 2002. Ms. Krause also has served on the board of directors of the Committee of Seventy, a government watchdog group in Philadelphia.
