MIAMI, Okla. (AP) - Three people killed in a multiple-vehicle crash on an icy bridge connecting Oklahoma and Texas earlier this week were on their way to Mexico to bury a family member who had recently died.

The Miami News-Record reports (https://bit.ly/1cbdbSg) that 9-year-old Maria Jose Perez Alanis, 70-year-old Anita Lucio Mayorga, and 40-year-old Juan Garcia of Miami were killed when the vehicle they were traveling in lost control during icy weather, striking a guard rail and two tractor-trailer rigs.

The three people had been traveling with other members of their family to bury family member Jose Alanis, who had died from pneumonia the week before.

Twenty-two-year-old Santos Gilberto Alanis says losing his father, cousin, grandmother and uncle within days of each other has been overwhelming.
