THREE OAKS, Mich. (AP) - State police have released the names of four people killed in a house fire in southwestern Michigan.

They are 20-year-old Anna Peek, her 19-year-old boyfriend Kyle Tyler, 77-year-old Orville Kiernan and 76-year-old Leota Kiernan. The Kiernans were Peek’s grandparents.

The blaze started after 5 a.m. Thursday in Three Oaks, just north of the Michigan-Indiana border and about 20 miles northwest of South Bend, Ind. A dog and three cats also were killed. No working smoking detectors were found.

TV stations WSBT and WSJV report that the four victims likely died of smoke inhalation.

The source of the fire remains under investigation. Foul play isn’t suspected.
