ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio man is recovering after a flying piece of debris came through his windshield and struck him in the face as he drove on the interstate near Cleveland.

The Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports (https://bit.ly/1fTbT31 ) 49-year-old Mark Mentzer of Oberlin was eastbound on I-90 around 6:50 a.m. Friday when the curved metal object crashed through his window.

Mentzer was conscious and alert enough to stop another vehicle for help. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released for facial injuries.

Police weren’t immediately able to determine where the metal object came from. They said if it came from a truck hauling metal, that driver could face charges if identified.

Mentzer’s wife told the newspaper Friday he was in too much pain to take a call.
