BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A pilot program is set to begin later this month that will allow New York-bound trucks to be inspected in Canada.

Sen. Charles Schumer says Customs and Border Protection officers will begin pre-inspecting trucks on the Canadian side of the Peace Bridge starting Feb. 24.

The bridge between Fort Erie, Ontario and Buffalo is among the busiest commercial crossings along the border. The pilot program is expected to improve efficiency and ease congestion and delays. It will last from six months to a year.
