WALTERS, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say three people were injured after an oil battery exploded in southern Oklahoma.

Authorities say the explosion happened Sunday night near Walters by the Cotton and Comanche county line. Lawton television station KSWO says (https://bit.ly/L1qK0k ) witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing a large fireball in the sky.

Authorities tell the TV station that three people were injured in the explosion. One was sent to an Oklahoma City hospital, while another person was taken to a Lawton hospital. A third person took himself to a hospital at Fort Sill.

The explosion sparked a grassfire, but firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Authorities don’t yet know what caused the explosion at the oil battery, which stores crude oil.
