ST. LOUIS (AP) - Motorists planning to travel through downtown St. Louis on Interstate 70 this weekend should expect some delays.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says it will close all lanes of I-70 between Pine Street and the Poplar Street Bridge from 8 p.m. Friday until about 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting. A detour will be available, but motorists are advised to consider other routes such as Interstate 64, I-55 or I-44.

The closure will allow for work that is part of the plan to build a park over I-70 to connect downtown St. Louis with the area around the Gateway Arch, which sits on the other side of the interstate.
