HOUMA, La. (AP) - Russell Hornsby, the new Terrebonne Parish Council chairman, said he wants to bring more accountability to parish projects.

The Parish Council elected him at its Jan. 8 meeting. Councilman Danny Babin was chosen as vice chairman.

The Houma resident, who will head the nine-person body, also wants to streamline parish meetings.

Hornsby tells The Courier (https://bit.ly/1iUhbvt ) he hopes to bring engineers working on building projects across the parish to come report directly to the council.

He said he’s specifically concerned about the speedy completion of Fireman’s Skate and Bike Park and the Bayou Country Sports Complex.
