RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Police say six men were ticketed after showing up at Rapid City motels expecting to buy sex.

Rapid City Police Lt. Don Hedrick tells the Rapid City Journal (https://bit.ly/1dRNxoC ) that the men were arrested Thursday after answering online ads placed by police detectives.

The men ranged in age from 21 to 39.

Hedrick says motel owners cooperated with the sting operation.

Hiring for sexual activity is a Class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine.
