BESSEMER CITY, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina man who had been escorted out of an adult video and novelty store is in jail after authorities say he tried to run over a man with his truck.

Robert Keith Bland of Shelby was charged with attempted first-degree murder Saturday after police were called to Laura’s Video and Etc. in Gaston County.

According to police, one of the store’s owners and the victim escorted Bland to his truck. The 50-year-old Bland is accused of then hitting the victim from behind with his truck before speeding from the parking lot. He was later pulled over and arrested by officers.

The victim was treated and released from a nearby hospital.

Bland is being held on a $750,000 bond. Authorities did not know whether he yet has an attorney.
