ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - An investigation into a devices found at an Aspen ATM designed to intercept debit card information and identification numbers has been turned over to the U.S. Secret Service.

A card “skimmer” and a small camera were discovered at the downtown ATM.

Aspen Police say they don’t know how long it was there. Surveillance videos will be reviewed to identify potential suspects.

Police said Tuesday they’ll assist Secret Service investigators.

Aspen attracts celebrities and the wealthy from around the world for its skiing and ambiance.



Authorities are encouraging people to monitor their bank accounts closely if they used their debit card at a Wells Fargo ATM in Aspen. They say the best option is to replace the card and get a new PIN number.

Bank officials didn’t return a call.
