HOUMA, La. (AP) - Parish officials say a new pedestrian bridge is set to be built across Bayou Terrebonne in downtown Houma.

The bridge, which is in design, will be built this year where Grinage Street dead-ends.

Capital Project Administrator Jeanne Bray tells The Courier (https://bit.ly/1ijhqT8 ) it will connect Main Street to the parking lot making parking more accessible to businesses on Park Avenue.

The bridge has been in the works since late 2012. The Parish Council gave the project the go-ahead in July. State and federal grants are expected to cover the bill.
