CARTERVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Services will be this weekend for a 12-year-old boy who fell through ice and drowned in a southern Illinois pond.

Justin Johnson-Stewart of Carterville died Sunday at a Herrin hospital shortly after being pulled from the pond in Williamson County.

Coroner Junior Burke says Johnson-Stewart and a friend were walking on the pond when the ice broke and they fell into the water. The other boy was rescued.

Johnson-Stewart’s funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until service time.

Carterville is 10 miles east of Carbondale.
