DORAL, Fla. (AP) - A new television network aimed at the large Venezuelan expatriate population has launched in Miami.

El Venezolano newspaper was founded in Florida in 1992 and now includes editions in Broward, Orlando and four countries in Latin America.

On Wednesday the company launched “El Venezolano TV.” The Internet-based network will feature shows focusing on daily news, art, politics and Venezuelans living in and outside of the South American country.

South Florida is home to the largest concentration of Venezuelan expatriates. Many left during the presidency of late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

A spokesman for the company said the network aims to become the “voice of Venezuelans abroad.”

In addition to an Internet edition, the network will be viewable on smartphones.
