BEND, Ore. (AP) - Expensive bills have prompted an effort to recall four board members of the local water district in Terrebonne.

The Bulletin newspaper (https://is.gd/blDhJ2 ) reports that residents behind the recall say they have received no explanation for why summer water bills were at least three times higher than normal.

To force a vote, the group has until mid-April to collect 57 signatures from Terrebonne residents.

In a statement to the newspaper, board member Kay Walters said the board and the water district’s two full-time employees are working hard to replace needed equipment and purchase a more efficient meter reading system.

Terrebonne is 23 miles north of Bend.
