DELAVAN, Ill. (AP) - The family that owns the lone grocery store in the tiny central Illinois community of Delavan says they’ll rebuild following a weekend fire.

The (Pekin) Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/LjmN72 ) Delavan Finer Foods was destroyed during Sunday’s blaze.

Mayor Elizabeth Skinner says the fire was a “huge blow” to the community of about 1,700 residents that’s 20 miles south of Peoria.

She says “an awful lot of people really depend on it,” and called the fire “devastating.”

Delavan Fire Department Chief Rod Ashby says he’s not sure authorities will be able to figure out what sparked the fire, which was difficult to fight because of the makeup of the building.

It’s unclear how long it could take to rebuild.
