RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - Officials at the Riverton Police Department say they aren’t interested in using a new national dispatch program recently purchased by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center.

Police Capt. Eric Murphy says using the new system would hurt the department’s response to emergencies.

The Riverton Ranger reports (https://tinyurl.com/kvkv6q6) the $44,000 Medical, Fire and Police Priority Dispatch System was designed to provide a uniform response to local emergencies.

Murphy says it takes too long for dispatchers to get the information needed quickly by their police officers.
