DETROIT (AP) - An 8-year-old Detroit girl says she fell into a sinkhole filled with freezing water after leaving school.

Dae’Ionna Sparks tells WDIV-TV (https://bit.ly/Mbwjch ) that she was walking Monday to her school bus when she “fell in the ground.”

Monica Lindsey says she saw her daughter step into the sinkhole near John R. King school on the city’s northwest side and quickly pulled her out.

Lindsey says a boy had previously fallen into the hole.

The station reports that the sinkhole was formed after a water main broke. It reports that repairs were being made Tuesday.
