DEKALB, Ill. (AP) - The northern Illinois city of DeKalb is cutting back on road salting.
WNIJ radio reports Friday (https://bit.ly/1n347E7) that city officials say they will only salt main roads and areas that are considered dangerous. Public Works Director T.J. Moore says residents should expect snow-packed streets if forecast snow falls on Saturday.
Moore says DeKalb has about 250 tons of salt available with another 800 tons on order from the state. But Moore says DeKalb officials don’t “want to depend on future shipments that may not arrive on time.”
