CHICAGO (AP) - Friends and relatives have remembered a Chicago man killed last week in a massive pileup on Interstate 94 in northwestern Indiana.
The funeral for 65-year-old Jerry Dalrymple was Thursday at St. John the Divine Luthern Church in Chicago. Dalrymple died Jan. 23 along with his black Labrador retriever, Sparky. He was one of three people who died in the pileup in near whiteout conditions. It involved more than 40 vehicles and semi-trucks.
Dalrymple was a married father of four grown children. He was a former music teacher and played the organ at his church.
The SouthtownStar reports (https://bit.ly/1fsWplW) eulogies for Dalrymple included memories of his love of music, boating, family and life.
The Rev. Dr. David Schmitt says Dalrymple “was an unassuming person” who “always found something good in someone.”
