LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a teenager was killed and two other people wounded by gunfire in what police believe was an attempted robbery in suburban Atlanta.

CBS 46 in Atlanta reports the shooting happened early Tuesday morning on Browns Mill Ferry Drive in the Lithonia area.

WSB-TV reports that one of the victims — a 16-year-old — died in the gunfire. Authorities said the other two were hospitalized.

DeKalb County police Sgt. Steven Dean said a neighbor called 911 around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday to report hearing numerous gunshots.

Police then found three people shot. They were inside and outside of a car parked in the middle of the road.

Dean said early Tuesday that police did not yet know the full story of how the shooting occurred and were continuing to investigate.
