WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - A second post office has opened in Williston to serve western North Dakota’s oil patch.

The Badlands Station Post Office opened its doors Monday morning.

The Postal Service has struggled to keep up with tremendous growth in Williston and other oil patch communities in recent years as tens of thousands have moved to the area for work. Long lines and late deliveries have frustrated residents of the area.

U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says the Postal Service has often not been able to deliver mail on time and maintain its standards in western North Dakota. She says the new office is an important step toward remedying that.
