SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say they’ve found the body of a 33-year-old man who disappeared while trying to rescue a struggling swimmer in Lake St. Clair.

The Macomb County sheriff’s department says a dive team and its marine division found the body of Julian J. Martinez about 10 a.m. Thursday. The site is about 20 miles northeast of Detroit.

Lt. John Michalke says in a statement that the body was found in about 10 feet of water. Martinez disappeared Monday night in the lake near the mouth of the Clinton River.

Martinez was from the Detroit suburb of Shelby Township.

The U.S. Coast Guard says he was on a boat and was trying to help a woman who got tired while swimming. She survived.
