DELTONA, Fla. (AP) - A former Deltona firefighter accused of sexually assaulting 11 women has been sentenced to 7 ½ years in prison.

As part of a deal with Volusia County prosecutors, 33-year-old Terry Freeman pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of sexual battery. He could have faced up to 25 years at a trial.

Prosecutors filed charges on three cases, and did not act on three others. Freeman’s plea closed all the cases, and there will be no further investigation.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (https://goo.gl/y7Lyuw ) reports that Freeman first made the news in December when a woman he had met at a furniture store reported to police that Freeman had raped her. Other women began to come forward after that report.
