ELLETTSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Investigators suspect foul play after finding a gun near the bodies of two people in a burning south central Indiana home.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Brad Swain told The Herald-Times (https://bit.ly/1rbS7Vb ) that investigators recovered a gun within close proximity of the two bodies. He says neighbors reported the woman who lived in the home had made comments about harming her son and herself.

Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer says foul play is suspected.

The fire was reported Thursday morning at a house just northwest of Ellettsville, about 45 miles southwest of Indianapolis.

The victims were not immediately identified. Meyer says their names and the cause and manner of their deaths would likely be released Friday after autopsies were conducted.

Firefighters said the home was a total loss.
