CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Hornets have announced they’ve named Chad Buchanan as their assistant general manager.

Buchanan spent the last 10 years with the Portland Trail Blazers, the last seven working as the director of college scouting. Buchanan also served as Portland’s acting general manager from 2011-12 and was responsible for all player transactions, including the 2011 NBA Draft and free agency.

Hornets general manager Rich Cho says Buchanan is “extremely organized and well prepared and will add another dimension to our basketball operations department with his extensive scouting and player evaluation experience.”

The Hornets front office experienced a shake-up last month when president of basketball operations Rod Higgins, a longtime friend of team owner Michael Jordan, left the organization.
