CORTEZ, Colo. (AP) - A man accused of stabbing a Cortez police officer has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

The Cortez Journal reports (https://goo.gl/YwN3D6 ) that 37-year-old Shane French faces four counts of felony assault, five counts of resisting arrest, and two counts of a crime of violence. He pleaded not guilty to all charges this week.

He is scheduled to go on trial in November and remains in custody without bond.

Police say officer Casey Eubanks suffered a small stab wound on his left side in February during the confrontation with French. Police were responding to a call from French’s mother, who said he was being verbally abusive.
