WIDENER, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas highway crews next week will close underpasses on Interstate 40 near Widener in St. Francis County.

Traffic overnight next Monday through Friday will be diverted onto exit ramps so road crews can work on the Arkansas 38 overpass. Daytime traffic can still use the main travel lanes.

Drivers will be forced to exit the highway at Exit 247 in St. Francis County about 45 miles west of Memphis, Tennessee. Traffic will cross over Arkansas 38 and re-enter the thruway via its entrance ramp.

The work is part of a $51 million project in the area. Statewide, highway crews are improving 455 miles of roadway under the 2011 Interstate Rehabilitation Program.
