HILO, Hawaii (AP) - The head of the state public hospital system’s East Hawaii region is resigning to take a job in North Carolina.

The Hawaii Health Systems Corporation’s East Hawaii Regional Board said Thursday Howard Ainsley’s resignation will be effective on Aug. 9.
