HOUMA, La. (AP) - Bond has been cut from $1 million to $100,000 for a Houma man who is accused of fatally shooting a visitor to his neighbor’s home early Sunday.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1y2OkN9 ) 58-year-old Ray Carlos was booked with the second-degree murder of 29-year-old James Rube, of Gray, after an altercation between the two men.

Police say Carlos was awoken by Rube’s loud knocking on his ex-girlfriend’s door across the street and shot him once in the head with a handgun.

Carlos’ attorney Barron Whipple asked District Judge Randy Bethancourt Thursday to lower his bond to $50,000 so his family could afford to have him released.
