ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - A woman who worked as a bookkeeper at a church in Clover has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing more than $600,000.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported (https://bit.ly/1q3Onbe) that 67-year-old Sandra Stroupe was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Friday.

Prosecutors say she took the money from the Clover Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church while working as a bookkeeper. They say she used the money to pay for living expenses, buy gifts and luxuries and pay off credit card debt.

Stroupe also must pay $610,000 in restitution.

She pleaded guilty in March to mail fraud.

Stroupe was the church’s bookkeeper for 38 years. Court documents say the thefts occurred between 2006 and 2013.
