NEW YORK (AP) - A federal judge has dismissed two lawsuits that sought to block construction of a controversial waste-transfer station on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

The lawsuits claimed that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers erred in issuing the city a construction permit. They said the corps failed to carefully consider the environmental consequences of building the station on East 91st Street.

The Daily News (https://nydn.us/1mQXHwJ ) says on Thursday a Manhattan federal judge ruled that the corps’ decision to issue the permit was “rational and well-supported.”

The suits were filed in 2012 by area residents and politicians.
