LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - People wanting to see inmates at the Lexington County jail can no longer make their visits in person.

Sheriff A. Lewis McCarty said starting Monday, all visits at the jail will happen on video over a computer.

The jail will have terminals on site for people, but visitors can also use their own high-speed Internet link and web camera or a smartphone. They can set up a time to talk at https://securustech.net/

McCarty says visiting hours will remain at the same times and days of the week.

The sheriff says Lexington County is joining jails in Richland County and Charleston County by allowing visitation over video link.
