CEDAR HILL, Texas (AP) - Authorities have filed charges against a man accused of setting himself and a police officer on fire before dashing through the parking lot of a suburban Dallas shopping strip as flames enveloped his body.

Authorities announced Friday that 27-year-old Terrance Jarmell Dunn is charged with aggravated assault on a public servant. He underwent surgery following the incident Wednesday in Cedar Hill and remains hospitalized.

City spokesman Corky Brown says officer Ann McSwain also is hospitalized and will require surgery for severe burns.

Two other injured officers were treated and released.

Officers had intended to question Dunn about a burglary when he ran into a restaurant while holding a bottle of flammable liquid. He lit himself on fire and the flames spread to McSwain before he ran from the eatery.
