BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department has received more than $388,000 this year from a federal program that funds outdoor projects.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund matching grants are for projects such as ball fields, swimming pools, campgrounds and playgrounds. The program is funded by the federal Interior Department and administered by the state.

North Dakota has received nearly $37 million from the program since 1965.

The next application cycle will open in October.
