OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert has named 19 neighborhoods and business developments around Omaha she would like annexed this year.

The neighborhoods range those from outside south Omaha to those bordering northwest sections of the city.

Omaha television station KETV reports (https://bit.ly/1lXfCMg ) that in most cases, owners will see a decrease in their property taxes.

An open house will be Wednesday at Burke High School to answer questions about the plan.

The plan goes to the Omaha City Council on Aug. 12 for consideration. If the City Council approves it, the annexation would take place in September.

The annexation would have no effect on school district boundaries.
