FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in Flint have confirmed that a man who died in a standoff with police after a state trooper was wounded trying to arrest him was a murder suspect they were seeking.

A daylong standoff ended Wednesday night when authorities brought in heavy equipment to penetrate the house. The Flint Journal reports police on Thursday said that the body was that of 22-year-old Daron R. Gaylor Jr.

Cause of death hasn’t been confirmed. Police say the trooper’s wounds aren’t life threatening.

Police were seeking Gaylor on first-degree murder and attempted murder charges in one case and for questioning about a shooting in which his cousin died and an 8-year-old boy was wounded.

Angelique Gaylor tells WEYI-TV that her brother didn’t kill his cousin.
