HOUSTON (AP) - A memorial service will be held this weekend for a veteran Houston firefighter who died after suffering burns while battling a house blaze.

The Houston Fire Department says 46-year-old Daniel Groover will be remembered Saturday during a church service at The Woodlands.

Groover died Wednesday at a hospital after being rescued from the fire scene. Investigators say Groover was inside a burning residence when he lost radio contact with other firefighters.

He’d been a Houston firefighter for 21 years.

The service begins at 10 a.m. CDT on Saturday at Woodlands Church.
