COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Vincent Sheheen’s campaign says it raised more than $500,000 in the second quarter of the year.

The campaign said late Thursday said it had $1.6 million on hand for this fall’s challenge of incumbent Republican Nikki Haley.

Haley’s campaign said Thursday it had raised more than $1 million in the second quarter. The Haley campaign had about $4.5 million on hand for the rematch with Sheheen.

Haley won election over Sheheen in 2010 by 4 percentage points.
