PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a 17-year-old boy will be charged with murder in a fatal late-night shooting at a Phoenix park.

Phoenix police said Friday the teen is being detained in Maricopa County juvenile court, where he will be charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

The teen was arrested Thursday.

Police say the suspect is accused of shooting at 22-year-old Dershawn Stuard and a 14-year-old boy on June 26 while the two were playing basketball.

Stuard died at the scene but the 14-year-old victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police initially spent several hours conducting a search of the area using canines as well as getting a description of the suspect.
