MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - A 57-year-old man has been convicted of setting fire to a house across a street from his in Mason City.

On Monday Roger Kuck entered an Alford plea to an arson charge. An Alford plea means Kuck doesn’t admit to the crime but does acknowledge prosecutors likely can prove the charge. A burglary charge was dropped in exchange for Kuck’s plea.

The charges stemmed from a fire set Oct. 30 last year at a vacant house near Kuck’s home.
