PHOENIX (AP) - Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say a stash of nearly 90 sticks of dynamite have been found near a Phoenix apartment complex and a man has been arrested in the case.

Authorities say they received information about the dynamite last week from a woman arrested on an outstanding warrant in Buckeye.

That led to the discovery of seven sticks in southeast Phoenix. Those were detonated by a bomb squad.

Additional information led to the arrest of 49-year-old Donald McMahan and the discovery of another 85 sticks of dynamite in a duffel bag and hidden within 30 feet of a large apartment complex.

Deputies also found dozens of blasting caps and fuses.

Sheriff’s officials say McMahan admitted stealing the dynamite last month from a Phoenix warehouse and was trying to sell it.
