PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - The gold sports jacket worn by Clarence “Ace” Parker during his induction ceremony at the Pro Football Hall of Fame has been donated to the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in Portsmouth.

The jacket is part of the “Grid Iron Greats” display that showcases football hall of famers from Virginia.

Parker died last November at age 101. The Portsmouth native was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1972.

He played professionally in baseball and football. He starred for the National Football League’s Brooklyn Dodgers from 1937-41. After serving in World War II, he played for the Boston Yanks and for the New York Yankees in the rival American Football Conference.
