PHOENIX (AP) - Two Arizona prison inmates will have a decade added on to their sentences after pleading guilty to assaulting a state Department of Corrections officer last year.

DOC officials said Wednesday that 25-year-old Guillermo Caughlan and 27-year-old Salvador Reyes each pleaded guilty in Navajo County Superior Court to dangerous assault by a prisoner.

They were accused of attacking a corrections officer at the Winslow prison complex last July 19.

Caughlan and Reyes allegedly attacked the officer from behind as inmates at Kaibab unit were being readied to go to the dining hall.

DOC officials say officer suffered a broken nose and a broken cheekbone in the attack.

They say Caughlan and Reyes were each sentenced to the maximum term of 10 years on the charges.
