CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Casa Grande have arrested a suspect after a stabbing left a man hospitalized in critical condition.

They say 21-year-old Angel Luz was taken into custody Tuesday night for alleged shoplifting at a store.

Police say Luz had been identified earlier in the day as a suspect in the stabbing case.

Officers responded to a stabbing call at a Casa Grande apartment about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

They found 24-year-old Adam Craig Lewis inside the residence with what appeared to be numerous stab wounds.

Lewis was transported by ambulance to a Casa Grande hospital and then flown to a Phoenix-area hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

Police say they interviewed witnesses and identified Luz as a suspect.

He’s jailed on suspicion of aggravated assault.
